My arm is broken??

It all started with a broken arm on the morning of August 25, 2019.  My shoulders were already hurting pretty bad from excessive use the past couple of weeks.   I was lying in bed and decided to roll from my back to my right side.  I had gotten about halfway moved when I felt the muscles or tendons pulling in my upper left arm.  I was worried I'd completely tear something so I stopped moving and laid back down on my back.   When I did that, I heard a "pop". It kind of sounded like a joint cracking. BUT, it was followed by the most intense pain.  It felt like someone was jabbing an ice pick into my arm from the top of my shoulder.  I knew right then that something was terribly wrong.  I couldn't move my left arm without extreme pain and pretty much held it in place with my right hand.

It was early on a Sunday morning.  I knew I wasn't going to be able to drive so I asked Kyle, my awesome 16yo son, to drive me to the emergency room.  We didn't have to wait long to see a dr.  The first thing she did was order and xray.  I told her I thought I tore the muscle or tendon.  She wanted to check to make sure I hadn't completely torn it off the bone.

When the doctor came back into the room, the first thing she said was, "well your arm is broken, but not for the reason I thought".  "My arm is broken?" Was all I could manage to say.   She then went on to tell me that the radiologist saw a lesion in the fracture and that one cause could be from cancer.  I couldn't believe how nonchalant she was telling me this; especially since my son was sitting in the room with me.

She fitted me into a sling. Because of the location of the break (upper humerus near shoulder joint), it got treated with a sling and not cast.  She then advised me to see an oncologist and an orthopedic surgeon as soon as possible. Wrote me a prescription for some percocet and sent me on my way.  At this point cancer was only a possibility. I left the hospital with so many different emotions.
